Kotturpuram

Kotturpuram is a reputed locality in Chennai. Ace carnatic musicians (Late) Shri MS Subbulakshmi and {Late} Shri D.K. Pattammal have made the place proud. Former Indian cricket board chairman and SPIC founder AC Muthaiya lives here. The neighbourhood is served by Kotturpuram MRTS railway station. It has Abirami-Sivagami hall for marriage functions and MAC Spin Cricket foundation Next to it, there is the best badminton court which is next to the Minister Durai Murugan's house. Centuries old temples such as the Perumal Koil and Ponniamman Koil are situated in Kottur. There are plenty of schools in this area offering excellent education like the A.M.M. School and Anna Gem, DAV Senior Secondary School, Unity Public School, Eurokids etc. The Anna Centenary Library, one of South East Asia's largest library is located here. This area has three parts, Kottur, Kotturpuram and Kottur Gardens. This area has developed at a rapid rate with new outlets coming up every other week. Some hotels in this area are Chamiers Park Hotel, Executive Comfort, AnnSun Boutique Hotels. Kotturpuram, a centrally located precinct in Chennai, on the banks of the Adyar River started attracting the attention of home buyers when housing projects started coming up in, what is today known as, Kottur Gardens. This locality which is close to Adyar, Boat Club Road and Nandanam did not attract development because there was no bridge connecting Nandanam with Gandhi Mandabam Road. Real estate development in this locality started only after the Kotturpuram Bridge was constructed sometime in the late 80s or early 90s. Today Kotturpuram is a hot spot mainly because of its location, as it is very close to Anna Salai as well as the IT Corridor and to Adyar and Besant Nagar. There is easy access to the business districts as well as to the social ones.
