Chennai is the state capital of Tamil Nadu and is located on the Bay of Bengal's Coromandel Coast. Chennai, sometimes known as the "Gateway to South India," is a major administrative and cultural center. Madras grew from its 17th-century core, which included Fort St. George. Fort St. George houses the state's executive and legislative headquarters. The Chennai Corporation is India's oldest surviving municipal governing organization, having been created in 1688. LIC Building

The LIC building is a 15-story building in Chennai, India that acts as the southern headquarters of the Life Insurance Corporation of India. It is India's first skyscraper and a prominent landmark in the city. The structure, which stands 54 meters tall, is located on Anna Salai (formerly Mount Road). When completed in 1959, the LIC tower was India's highest skyscraper, at 12 floors tall at the time. The building, which occupied 55 square meters, was enclosed and featured glass facings at the front and back. The structure contains 15 stories: 13 levels + two basement floors.

Raj Bhavan

Raj Bhavan, Chennai The official residence of Tamil Nadu's governor is the "Governor's Residence," as the name suggests. In 1820, Governor Thomas Munro established the Government House as the official home. Today it is called Raj Bhavan, although it was once known as Guindy Lodge, the Governor's country mansion. Governor William Langhorne is thought to have built Guindy Lodge in the early 1670s in a garden space carved out of the Guindy Forest, which had contributed to St. Thomas' Mount's reputation as a pleasant spot to rest and relax. Raj Bhavan is located in the Guindy Park Reserved Forest area. The Raj Bhavan Estate currently covers 156.14 acres.

Senate House

The Senate House structure in Chennai features stunning architectural domes with stained-glass windows, elegant porticos, and an abundance of detailing. This British period structure is a prime example of Indo-Saracenic colonial architecture, as pioneered by British architect Robert Chisholm. The Senate House's design combines Hindu, Mughal, and Gothic architectural styles. The Senate House building incorporates various Byzantine architectural features into its design. The Senate House was constructed in 1879 and is currently housed on the University of Madras campus.

Madras High Court

The High Court of Madras is yet another Indo-Saracenic structure spanning 107 acres. A design by JW Brassington which was completed in 1892 by renowned British architect Henry Irwin. The complex features a stunning array of domes, minarets, stained-glass windows, and two lighthouses. The domes overlook the lovely site, which also includes a full-fledged museum. The High Court complex, located in the Georgetown neighborhood—the settlement from which the city of Madras grew—has been a site since Chennai's inception.

Ripon Building

The Ripon Building, with its imposing exterior, lies not far from the Chennai Central Railway Station and is a notable specimen of neoclassical architecture. St. George’s Fort
